CIBJO, the World Jewellery Confederation, has released the eighth of its Special Reports a week before the start of its annual congress in Moscow.
Prepared by the CIBJO EU Committee, headed by CIBJO President Gaetano Cavalieri and coordinated by Thilo Brückner, the report looks at liaison activities conducted by CIBJO with the European Commission, with the goal of advancing the interests of the jewelry industry in European Union member states.

Diamond mining in the RF in 2013 amounted to 37.9 million carats - that is 8.5% higher than in 2012, as it follows from the materials of the Ministry of Finance of the RF.
In the second half of 2013, 20.4 million carats were produced. The average prime cost of diamonds in 2013 was $ 82.2 per carat, virtually unchanged compared to 2012.

Russian diamond mining monopoly Alrosa reported a 12-percent increase on the year in revenue for 2013 to $4.67 billion (168.5 billion rubles) due to increased rough diamond sales.
The firm sold 15 percent more diamonds last compared with 2012 at 38.0 million carats which "offset the lack of price growth in 2013".

India’s Gem & Jewellery Export Promotion Council (GJEPC) and state-owned Russian diamond mining firm Alrosa signed a memorandum of understanding to share trade and statistical data on the diamond trade between the two countries.
The sides describe it as a significant step towards greater direct diamond trade between the two countries. The MoU was signed by GJEPC Chairman Vipul Shah and Alrosa President Fyodor Andreev.

The Dubai Diamond Exchange (DDE) and Russian diamond mining giant Alrosa have signed a Cooperation Agreement in Dubai.
The agreement aims to strengthen the relationship between the world’s largest producer of diamonds in volume terms and the DDE.
The document was signed by Andrey Polyakov, Alrosa Vice President, and Peter Meeus, Chairman of the Board of Directors of the DDE, in the presence of Yegor Borisov, President of the Republic of Sakha (Yakutia), and Ahmed Bin Sulayem, Executive Chairman of the Dubai Multi Commodities Centre (DMCC).

The list of goods to be offered for sale will be available on February 21.
Viewing of the goods at Kristall’s Hong Kong offices will take place from February 26 to March 6 from 10:00 to 18:00 (excluding weekends).
At the firm’s Antwerp offices, the diamonds can be viewed from March 11 to 18 on the same conditions.
