During 7 months Russian Jewelers increased gold consumption by 12 %
Russian jewellery industry in the first half of 2012 increased gold consumption for jewelry making by 12,05 % in comparison with the similar period of 2011 - to 24,05 tons (773,225 thousand ounces); usage of silver - reduced by 3,8 % - to 61,19 tons (1,967 million ounces).
The mass of products of the 585th and 750th hallmarks on average contains about 60 % of pure gold. Silver products contain about 92,5 % of pure metal.
In total 17,73 millions of Russian jewelry from gold of the overall weight 40,09 tons were tested and marked in the first half of the current year against 16,09 million pieces (weight - 35,78 tons) in the first half of 2011. According to silver - 19,1 million pieces (weight - 66,15 tons) against 18,76 million pieces (weight - 63,59 tons) in previous year.
